We get asked from time top time about the similarity and differences between PEMF or PEMFT and Diathermy, RF (Radio Frequency) Therapy and even MW (Microwave) Therapy.
The Actipatch, RecoveryRX and other similar devices are Nonthermal SWD devices. SWD is Short Wave Diathermy at 13.56 MHz or 27.12 MHz. These are not classified as PEMF devices. The makers are obviously trying to make you think they are PEMF devices as the Short Wave Diathermy has taken a lot of heat from the FDA and other medical reviewers.

One of the things that our competitors fail to discuss openly on their websites is power or energy levels generated by their systems. When we measure magnetism, we measure “magnetic induction” or “magnetic flux density” It’s unfortunate that the industry uses both terms Gauss and Tesla and these two measurement systems are different. Both Nikola Tesla and Carl Friedrich Gauss contributed significantly to the world of science and each is honored with the use of his name as a unit of measurement.Tesla has replaced Gauss as the primary measurement of magnetic induction and one Tesla equals 10 gauss.

Yes! 1,600 Gauss (160 mT)
I received an email recently introducing an amazing new product to add to our growing list of systems and add-ons. The newest item is the new Butterfly Coil which can be used with the Curatron 2000 3D Ultra Power system.
Our Butterfly Coil can only be used with the Ultra Power Curatron 2000 3D.

The Ultra-Power Curatron 3-D system offers the highest PEMF power in combination with a 3-dimensional 50 milli Tesla high power full body mattress. The pulsed electromagnetic field completely envelopes and penetrates the whole body in all 3 axes (length, width and height). This system has been designed primarily for clinical applications where instant results are crucial to both therapist and patient.

Curatron Probe
The Curatron Probe was developed last year to provide deep penetration in small areas. The Curatron probe has been designed for very local PEMF treatment like sinusitis, osteomyelitis of jaw bones, dental work, in short when you are not interested in treatment of the surrounding areas. In addition it is very effective for acupuncture applications and often makes treatment with needles superfluous.

Many of the various models Curatron 2000 come with a mattress or therapy pad to deliver the magnetic flux to you, the user. The coils typically are arranged longitudinally in the mattress or pad. Some of our customers become concerned that all of the energy/flux density is in the center of the mattress or pad. Nothing could be farther than the truth.

Doctor OZ
We are really grateful to Dr. Oz. His presentation last Thursday has led to an increased awareness of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy PEMFT here in America. The effect on our sales has been dramatic and we of course do hope that it will continue for a while longer.

I came across a post at the blog of Ben Philipson, the developer of the Curatron 2000 System. (Click Here For the Original Posting). Ben has extensive experience in this field and has been very helpful in teaching me about Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy.
What Ben Philipson says is:
“I am often asked “Can I use a PEMF device if I have a pacemaker or implant?”
The answer to this question is not straight forward and here follows some information about electromagnetic and static magnetic disturbance signals.
Many different frequencies and intensities are used in such devices, thus these warnings are in place because the resulting inducted intensities and frequencies are simply unpredictable.
PEMF devices powered by batteries, like bone growth stimulators, generate electromagnetic pulses (PEMF) with very limited energy levels. The energy generated during the pulsing time depends on the pulse width (= pulse duration) and pulse amplitude (like the volume on your radio) which form the amount of energy emitted during the pulse duration time.
Many makers of PEMF devices in their manuals, write that active implanted devices are contraindicated for use with pacemakers etc.
I suggest you read Ben’s Article at http://www.pemft.com/Pacemakers-in-pemf-therapy
My feelings on this are similar to those of Ben but I live in a country with many lawyers and litigators who would work till they died trying to prove that something we sold killed their patient. So let me be clear, I agree with Ben that I might use a Curatron 2000 system on my leg if I had an electronic implant in my chest BUT I WILL NOT AND CANNOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO THE SAME. This is a discussion that you should have with your doctor!

Magnetotron (Circa 1974)
Sometime ago I was reading a letter from a satisfied Curatron customer who had upgraded from an older technology PEMF machine called the Magnetotron. I was amazed to find out that this device may still be in production. There are and have been several machines over the years that require the user to sit inside a coil rather than on a simple flat pad or mattress. These arcane devices are difficult to use and tend to generate weak magnic fields.

One of the challenges of selling to people in the public eye is that they will not permit the use of their name and they will not or perhaps cannot ‘endorse’ a product. Suffice it to say, members of the US Ski Team travel a lot and our regular Curatron 2000 XP with the full mattress is quite bulky and a challenge to travel with.
We reacted a couple of months ago to a request for a ‘travel mattress’. The folks at the factory were marvelous. Within a few days of the request, the new travel mattress was born. See https://curatron.com/curatron-2000-XP-Travel-Mattress.htm. The Travel Mattress weighs in at about 4 lb (under 2 kg) and folds to 12″ x 14″ x 3″ (30 cm x 35 cm x 7 cm). I did receive an email from one of our customers on the US Ski Team and he said “Hi Chris, so far it’s been working out great. It’s so much easier to travel with.“
